605 Pine
Pacific Grove, CA 93950
RE: Address: 605 Pine Subdivision: 3rd Addition to Retreat
Block: 108 Lot: 2,4
Our maps and tax records show that the above structure was first assessed in: 1906 This means the
structure was actually built early in that year, or late in the previous year.
The first owner of this structure, according to the County's assessor's records was: Laura Prusia
Other Comments: The Prusia family either changed or corrected the spelling oftheir name to "Prussia"
with two "s"s in 1909. We will continue to use the spelling with one "s" since both the early tax records
and the city directory used that spelling. John K. Paul, founder and owner of the Paul Mortuary, which is
still in business under different owners, bought and occupied the house beginning in 1920.
A plague was originally awarded in 1981. I will have a new plague made.
Plaque Status: ® Structure is eligible for a plague and one will be made up for you at no charge.
You will be notified when plague is ready. It could take 4 to 6 months.
U Structure is not eligible for a plague at this time because:
Enclosed please find: Tax assessor information through 1926.

Newspapers
Newspapers only print Public Information
First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free
exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the
people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Newspapers produce and deliver news and information which they feel is important -- most often
from public information such as arrest reports, traffic infractions, accidents, indictments,
lawsuits, jury verdicts, property records, legal notices, and many other sources of information
which is freely available to anyone at any time. Newspaper publishers do not have access to any
information which is not also available to the public at large. All information published in a
newspaper is "public information."
The use of your name in an article does not mean you own it. Newspapers deliver news on all sorts
of public matters which, in addition to information found in the public registers, may include
statements you make to a reporter or official, your photograph, background and other information
provided by you or others, rebuttals, opinions, and other information such as court-ordered
legal notices, and historical and statistical data.
"The Press of the United States of America" is constitutionally protected from interference,
including by the government. If you are an attorney, law enforcement officer, officer of the
court, or other investigator, by law you must reveal that to us.
