One of Everett’s pioneer attor-
neys and prior to that one of the
county’s early educators is Thomas
A, Stiger, another old timer who
is interested in seeing a county
museum established.
Born Sept. 19, 1873, at Bucyrus,
Ohio, Stiger was raised on his
father’s farm. He attended Bald—
win University and graduated from
Ohio State University’s School of
Law in 1899.
Stiger came to Snoho‘mish Coun-
ty the following year, 1900, and
started teaching in Edmonds. For
two years he was a principal at
Granite Falls after which he
served a four-year term as county
superintendent of schools.
‘ 'In 1908 Stiger turned to the
ipractice. for which he had been
ileducated, opening his own law of-
‘fice. He served as county prose-
outing attorney from 1918 to 1922.
While _a_ laWyer he continued his
interestin education, serving for
ten years as a director or the Ev-
erettSchool District. He also has

served on the state board mi ed11~
cation.
Married in. 1904 to "Miss Anna
Raymond of Bellingham, the Sti—
gers have three children, Louise
Graham, Thomas R. Stiger, Sno—
homish County superior court
judge, and John W. Stiger.
A staunch Republican, Stiger is
a member of the Masons, Knights
of Pythias and Elks. He has been]
active in the work of the First Bap-
tist Church and for ten years-
served on the board of the YMCA.-
